Acc-835. English, late 4th quarter 19th century, with trade label in the lid for "CHAS. COLLINS, OPTICIAN, 157, GT. PORTLAND STREET, LONDON, W." Made of bright polished lacquered brass and black oxidized brass, the instrument is 5 3/4" long, with a 26mm diameter sleeve for mounting in the microscope body tube and a side-mounted illuminating mirror. This very attractive Sorby-Browning pattern microspectroscope is in very good overall condition, with virtually all of its original lacquer finish, in its original fitted wood case.
