UK-045. English, first quarter 19th, signed in script on the column "Cary London." Made of polished lacquered brass and standing 6 3/8" high when the column is screwed into the front edge of the bottom of the box. The 2 7/8" long microscope tube screws into the bar limb, and takes from 1 to 3 of the original screw-together objectives. The stages focuses by pinion drive on a rack cut along the back of the column. The substage mirror is 3/4" in diameter. The original accessories consist of 3 objectives, brass live box, and stage forceps. The microscope is in very good overall condition, with much of its original lacquer finish, in its original fitted mahogany case. See page 65 in G.L'E. Turner's "Collecting Microscopes" for a color photo of a similar instrument.
