LATE JONES IMPROVED-PATTERN COMPOUND MICROSCOPE

UK-191. English, 2nd quarter 19th century, unsigned. Made of lacquered brass and standing 11 1/4" tall (min) on its 4 1/2" x 4 3/4" x 3/8" thick mahogany base, extending to 13" by rack & pinion focussing on the body tube, and with a 1 1/2" diameter single-sided mirror that mounts in the microscope base. The original accessories include 4 numbered objectives, spring stage, frog plate, brass tray with glass bottom, live box, stage forceps, ivory stage disk, 5 ivory sliders, and ivory talc box - all in the drawer in the microscope case. The microscope and its accessories are all in very good overall condition, with most of their original lacquer finish. The original 6 1/2" x 6 3/4" x 18 1/2" high mahogany pyramid case is also in very good overall condition.
