EARLY POWELL & LEALAND NO. 3 SMALLER STAND signed by DOLLOND
UK-333. English, mid-19th century, signed on the body tube support "DOLLOND, LONDON" as the retailer. Made of polished lacquered brass and standing 15" high (min) when vertical, extending to 18" by rack & pinion focussing. This early model #3 features a simple spring stage stage (instead of a mechanical stage that was built onto all of the later microscopes), and a large 2-sided mirror on a double jointed arm. The original accessories include 2 eyepieces, two leiberkuhn objectives, brass live box, stage mounted forceps, and bull's eye condensing lens on table stand. This early Powell & Lealand #3 Smaller Stand is in very good overall condition, with most of its original lacquer finish. The original fitted mahogany case, 9" x 7" x 9", is also in very good overall condition.
