ABRAHAM-PATTERN COMPOUND MICROSCOPE SOLD BY JAMES ROBINSON
UK-622. English, late 2nd quarter 19th century, signed in script on the base "James Robinson, Dublin", but clearly made by Abraham Abraham (worked 1818-1850 in Liverpool). Made of polished lacquered brass, and standing 13 3/8" min, extending to 15 1/4" by rack & pinion coarse focussing, with fine focussing by a kurled knob on the side of the body tube. The original accessories in the case include 2 eyepieces, 2 divided objective lenses, spring stage, bull's eye condensing lens, brass live box, substage polarizer & body tube analyzer, stage forceps, substage aperture ring of stops, and 2 glass stage disks, The microscope and its accessories are all in very good overall condition, in their original 10 1/2" x 8 3/8" x 3 1/2" polished mahogany case.
