04-009. English, circa 1800, unsigned. Made of dark stained mahogany, 2" square x 13/16" thick, with hand cut L-shaped closure hook on the front and small diamond shaped brass hinges. The compass has 1 3/8" blued steel needle with a butterfly nut center usually seen on 18th century compasses. The compass is in fine overall condition, with its original glass.
