SMALL 18TH C ENGLISH CIRCUMFERENTOR by H. EDGWORTH
06-001. English, 4th quarter 18th century, signed on the compass face "H. EDGWORTH MAKER BRISTOL" (Edgworth worked in Bristol 1775-1787). The 6 5/8" diameter x 1" thick compass base is made of turned mahogany with polished brass fittings and 4 1/8" diameter paper compass face. Mounted on top of the compass is a full circle protractor with rotating sight holder, vernier readout, and 2 3/4" tall sight vanes. This attractive small circumferentor is in very good display condition, with reminants of the original lacquer finish and noting that the tripod mounting base hase been removed.
