The compass is made of polished brass, with a 2" needle and silvered face inside the 3" diameter housing, which can be mounted in 7 1/4" x 4" heavy brass base for use on a plane table or mounted in a gimbaled brass frame, with brackets on each end to suspend it from a cord. The 9 3/8" diameter gradbogen is made of lacquered brass, with hooks on each end to suspend it from a cord and a small brass plumb bob on a thread attached to the center point. The compass, plane table base, gimbaled frame, and gradbogen are all in very good overall condition in their original 11" x 9" x 1 3/4" suede lined fitted oak case.
