LACQUERED BRASS NORRENBERG-TYPE POLARIZATION APPARATUS

07-003. Probably German, early 1st quarter 20th century, unsigned, but very similar to one in Max Kohl's 1909 "Price List No. 50 - Physical Apparatus." The fixtures are made of bright polished and black oxidized brass and are mounted between two 11 1/2" long steel rods that are screwed into a 5 1/8" diameter x 5/8" thick brass base, with a 2 5/8" diameter mirror inset in the center of the base. The optical fixtures include the mirrored base, a diagonal clear glass polarizing plate, a circular stage with rotating gimbaled center plate, 3 condensing lenses, a rotating black mirror analyzer, and a rotating nicol prism analyzer. The apparatus is in very good overall condition, with some spotting of the lacquer finish on the base.
