2-LAYER ENGLISH BLOWPIPE SET by RICHARD & GEORGE KNIGHT
S07-013. English, mid 19th century, unsigned, but likely by Richard & George Knight, Ironmongers & Manufacturers of Chemical and Philosophical Apparatus, in London. The 10" x 6" x 3 7/8" plush lined mahogany case has a removable wood tray, and the set contains numerous separate items - including a blowpipe with ivory mouthpiece & 3 tips, spoon with bone handle, forceps, magnetic needle & brass base, assorted glassware, steel mortar & pestle, charcoal, wire, various mineral samples, and 4 molded bottles with glass stoppers for reagents (1 with broken top). The case is in good overall condition; the set is missing several pieces including the hammer, but it is still an attractive early blowpipe set.
