1871 STERLING SILVER POCKET PEDOMETER by PAYNE & CO
08-011. English, with hallmark stamps inside the case for sterling silver, London, and 1871, and signed
on the enameled face "Payne & Co., 165 New Bond Street." The pedometer is 1 5/8" diameter, with
sterling silver case, domed glass crystal, and white enameled face. The case, crystal, and enameled
face are all in fine overall condition, with no dents or scratches; the movement is also in fine
working condition, showing no signs of stress or wear. Pedometers were carried to indicate the
distance one had traveled on foot. The numerals on the dial represent miles, and the graduations are
in quarter miles.
