SCRIBOLA SMALL PRINTING ADDING MACHINE by RUTHARDT AND COMPANY
09-016. German, circa 1922, with trade mark logo on top "SCRIBOLA Patent" and a plate on the front for the retailer "Heinrich Daemen, Zurich." This very well designed chain adder is made of black enameled steel, 12 1/4" long overall x 4 1/4" wide x 2 3/4" tall, with 10 chains, 10-place results register, clearing mechanism, and a two-color printer using a typewriter-type ribbon mechanism. This attractive small adding machine is in very good display condition, with no surface oxidation, in its original plush-lined case; however, the results cleaning mechanism is currently jammed. See pages 324-325 in Ernst Martin's "The Calculating Machines" for a detailed description of the operational characteristics of the Sibola small printing adders.
