LARGE EARLY INDUCTION COIL (3"-4" SPARK)
10-020. English, 4th quarter 19th century, unsigned. The 6" diameter x 10 1/4" long induction coil is mounted between 6 1/2" square x 1/2" thick phenolic end pieces on a 21" x 13" x 4" tall mahogany base. Two brass terminals are mounted on top of the phenolic endpieces to hold spark gap electrodes; the battery terminals and reversing switch are mounted at one end of the coil; and the vibrator assembly is mounted at the other end. This large early induction coil is in very good working condition and will produce a 3"-4" spark with a 6-8 volt DC input.
