The astatic needle, consisting of two 4" long compass needles of equal pole strength and fixed together by a rigid bracket with their similar poles pointing in opposite directions, is suspended from a lacquered brass support between and above a 6" long pair of coils that are mounted on a 9" x 5" x 1" polished mahogany base. This simple demonstration astatic galvanometer is in very good overall condition.
