LARGE EARLY X-RAY TUBE SPARK REGULATOR

15-014. American, 1st quarter 20th century, with metal trade label on the base for "ACME-INTERNATIONAL X-RAY CO., MADE IN CHICAGO IL U.S.A." The 4" diameter spherical electrodes are mounted (one adjustable, one fixed) in black thermoplastic insulators atop two large phenolic insulators in a cast aluminum bracket screwed down on the 16" x 8" black painted steel base. The distance between the balls is adjustable from approximately 4 1/4" down to nearly touching. This unusual x-ray tube spark regulator is in very good display condition, except for minor oxidation on the surface of the electrodes.
