MAHOGANY CASED AMPUTATION SET by S. MAW, SON & THOMPSON
15-033. English, late 3rd quarter 19th century, signed on each instrument "S. MAW, SON & THOMPSON". The 16" x 5" x 2 1/2" mahogany case contains 9 pieces with ebonized wood handles - Capital Saw, Metacarpal Saw, 2 Liston's Knives, Caitling, 3 Scalpels, and Tenaculum; and 3 all metal pieces - Bone forceps, Artery forceps, and Tourniquet with original belt. The instruments are all in very fine overall condition, showing no evidence of use; the mahogany case itself is in very good overall condition.
