C.G. BUSH KALEIDOSCOPE ON TURNED WOOD TABLE STAND
16-022. American, 3rd quarter 19th century, signed on the object case "C.G. BUSH & Co., INVENTORS & MNFRS., PROV, R.I." Made of black pebbled leatherette covered cardboard and standing 13 3/4" high overall on its original fancy turned wood base. The kaleidoscope is 10 1/8" long overall x 3 3/4" diameter at its largest point. The 3 1/2" diameter object case is made of unlacquered sheet brass, with all 6 of its original brass pins for rotating the case. The object case is filled with the usual colored glass objects, including oil filled ampules; the original eyepiece lens is also present in its original holder; and the mirror assembly inside appears to be all original and untampered with. The kaleidoscope shows minor wear externally and is still in very good working condition.
