16-026. French, 4th quarter 19th century, unsigned. Made of maple veneered wood, 14 1/8" x 8 3/4" x 3 5/8" tall (closed), extending to 21" tall when fully open. The 1 3/4" diameter stereo viewing lenses are mounted in 2 1/2" diameter turned wood eyepieces that are screwed into a metal frame focussable by a rack & pinion. A 6 1/2" diameter magnifier is mounted above the lenses for examining photographs in detail. The focusable folding card holder is adjustable in height for viewing stereocards through the stereo viewing lenses and photographs through the magnifying glass. This extremely attractive French folding stereographoscope is in very good overall condition.
