17-007. American, patented Feb. 11th, 1879 by S.M. Badger of Whitney's Point, New York, patent number 212,121. Made of sheet metal, 5 1/8" long overall x 2 3/4" tall, in the shape of a water-cask with a handle on each end and two on the bottom "that they may readily and safely be held together, and when united form a serviceable and safe life-raft." This attractive 19th century patent model is complete and in fine overall condition, with its original patent office tags.
