I just picked up two large engineer's levels.

One is marked Davis, Leeds. The only reference I can find to Davis in Leeds is 1822-47 in Clifton's Directory of British Instrument Makers up to 1851. Mine could be later but I have no information on any other Davis in Leeds.

Stanley is marked Stanley GB, Turnstile Holborn, London WC and has the number 8434. Not marked W F Stanley so wondered if it was an earlier model. Base is marked West Hartlepool Instrument Commissioner's.

If anyone can shed any light on their potential age, I would be most appreciative.

PS - I haven't visited this site in quite some time. I was disappointed to see porn listed. Is this stuff cleaned off regularly?

Rob
