I would like to know how you prove definite old ownership of a Chandlee instrument. Case in point: I also own another Goldsmith Chandlee compass marked either I. WRIGHT or J. WRIGHT. After doing a considerable amount of research I found an old surveyor by the name of Joel Wright and his son, Jonathan Wright who started out in Maryland and wound-up in Warren Co, Ohio. A museum out there claims to have his (Joel's) compass made by Goldsmith Chandlee. How do I link mine up with them for certain. Thanks and HAPPY NEW YEAR- CARL
