A couple of years ago I bought a peculiar microscope on eBay mainly out of idle curiosity.
It was clarly some sort of "lash-up" and was fitted with two recycled modern single lenses.
The point is that it had a peculiar foot which looks identical to the one on your candle holder.
Cannot remeber the seller but he wa in the USA.
Last year I saw on ebay another peculiar piece of optical equipment with the same foot.
Love to know more.
