Brunton - Early Vintage Features

A recent Brunton on eBay is somewhat enigmatic - SN 8379, 1914 Pat., with no "Other Patents Pending" (OPP) inscription. I have theorized that most transits between SN 685x to 71xx that had 1914 patent dates & no OPP were made before the 9/15/17 pat. application for "illuminated" compass. Those SNs from 71xx to 13323 & had OPP because they were made before issuance on 5/4/20 of this patent. So the 8379 with no OPP occuring in this interval is an enigma.
1) Anyone who owns 71xx to 8379, can you verify that OPP or no OPP is inscribed?
2) 71xx appears to be first two of 4-digits - is this true?
3) Opinions on the OPP/no OPP markings for this general vintage relative to approximate manufacture date?

Thanks
