Mike, He has written a manuscript for which the Museum of Surveying in Lansing, MI has hired an editor to edit into a book to be published this year. Mr. Miller has spent over 20 years researching data on the SC. He could fill in some blanks in your research. I think the SC would more likely be the 2nd made by Nutz and Timpson based on the info you posted. However, Mr. Miller is the expert. He has compiled many more letters than you mention in your research. I have obtained some of the GLO Surveyor General letters regarding this matter for Mr. Miller. The first to mention a SC was in Sep., 1839. Your picture is helpful but the best angle for evaluation would be one taken from a position about 150° to the left from the Thank you for taking the time to inform others thru the www about your find.
