AMERICAN SMALL MAHOGANY MEDICINE CHEST

S15-003. American, 4th quarter 19th century, unsigned, but 9 of the 12 medicine bottles are labeled "JAMES W. SMITH, CHEMIST AND DRUGGIST, Court Street, corner Montague Place, BROOKLYN, N. Y." Fitted mahogany case, 8 3/8" wide x 6 3/4" deep x 8 1/8" high, with a plush lined lid opening to reveal compartments for 12 bottles, and a drawer below for accessories (although more are present.) The chest is in fine overall condition and all of the bottles retain their original labels. A very nice small travelling medicine chest, particularly desirable because of its American origin.
